Silent Film Festivals

ACM's popular Sound of Silent Film Festival - now in its ninth year! - features newly composed scores performed live to modern silent films. This year's festival features short dramas, comedies and experimental films from exciting young filmmakers around the world, all with new scores by our composer members.

We're thrilled to be moving the festival this year to the historic Music Box Theater on Southport! The Music Box is one of Chicago's premiere theaters for arthouse cinema. It's gorgeous interior, state of the art faciilites and sterling reputation make it the perfect fit for the Sound of Silent Film Festival.

I have directed about 7 or 8 short films, 2 of them were adaptations. they were both done in the context of film classes so the copyright issue was not very important at the time. however, one of them seemed good enough to take beyond the classroom so I submitted it to about 11 festivals and it got into 8 of them. this film was based on a story under public domain so there were no legal issues. it had all original music and sound effects as well so I made sure that all of my legal bases were covered.
in terms of photography, that can also be tricky terrain since I like to photograph objects and landscapes in addition to nature subjects

Hello, my name is Josh Robbins. The reason that I'm emailing you is to discuss an idea that my friends and I have been pondering for a couple of years. We would like to raise money for youth baseball leagues and this June, we would like to drive to all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums and watch a game in a world record 27 days. We're looking for business sponsorships and donations (either money or products for silent auction) to help make this possible. Would you be able to help us (maybe a quick article)? This would be a great opportunity for companies to sponsor a youth baseball organization and promote their thriving business around the United States
